Another SSPS Vocal coach gets his stripes!
It's now official! Although our latest SLS vocal coach, Chris Johnson, actually passed his Speech Level Singing qualifications back in October, the official SLS online register of qualified teachers only gets updated very occasionally and has only just been changed to reflect his certified status.

We are proud to say that all of our certified teachers passed this year's tests with flying colours but Chris did exceptionally well, achieving one of the highest pass marks ever given for a newly qualifying teacher.

Certification is a tough process, requiring annual testing and constant study, but it's the only Vocal teaching qualification that has these stringent measures in place and ensures that anyone who studies with SSPS is getting the best vocal education available. The Salisbury branch of SSPS has moved it's teaching studio to the very heart of Salisbury. The new facility is conveniently located, with easy access and readily available parking. You can find it at : Chapel Studios,

SSPS Principal Goes to L.A to study with the Master! :-)
SSPS Principal, Gareth Henderson went to Los Angeles in March to the 2009 SLS Teacher's Conference where he got some great additional info about the most up to date methods of teaching SLS. While there, he took the opportunity to study with Legendary singing coach. Seth Riggs, who invented the whole Speech Level Singing concept and personally taught a list of top singers that reads like a who's who of the vocal world and includes over 120 Grammy award winners.

Gareth said of the experience "studying in the same room, with the same teacher as Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and so many of the world finest singers was thrilling and intimidating at the same time, but Seth put me at ease and straight away. I hope I'm as full of passion for singing when I'm 76!"

SSPS recognized as coaches of the Technique of legends!
We are very happy to announce that as of January 2009, the three vocal coaches in our Southampton branch, Katie Holmes, Gareth Henderson and Steve Giles are all now certified Speech Level Singing teachers.

This unique vocal coaching method, developed by the world’s most successful vocal coach, Seth Riggs, has so far helped over 120 GRAMMY award winning artists. All certified coaches of the technique have to pass rigorous exams, under go ongoing training and continually re-qualify to maintain and improve the standard of their teaching. To reach the highest level of qualification takes 11 years!

Many coaches claim to teach Speech Level Singing, having heard of the benefits, but are not able to meet the standards required by the Speech Level Singing organization. If they are not on the approved list which you can find by clicking the “Find a teacher” menu item at the top of this page: www.speechlevelsinging.com Then they are NOT an approved Speech Level Singing teacher.

Unfortunately our coach in the Salisbury area has now left SSPS. We have a replacement vocal coach already in training and they will appear on the site and be available for lessons in Salisbury as soon as they reach the required standard but until then, anyone looking for singing lessons in the Salisbury area should contact us here and we can arrange lessons with one of our approved coaches.

One of the Worlds most experienced vocal coaches comes to SSPS!
John Henny, one of the worlds most qualified and experienced vocal coaches (Speech Level Singing Level 5 and IMT – highest level of singing qualification available) is coming to SSPS on March 5th and 6th to further train our coaches in the phenomenal method of coaching that has taken artists like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Kelly Clarkson to the dizzying heights of vocal ability they have achieved.

New Southampton based Vocal Performance Group auditions
SSPS vocal coach Steve Giles is launching a new performance group for clients of SSPS and all other lovers of popular singing.

From 1993 to 2007, SSPS ran a unique vocal performance group (or “Pop Choir”) called En Masse, based in Salisbury. Run by the schools founder Robin Gair and current principal Gareth Henderson, the group performed in venues like the massive Southampton Balloon festival, The Mayflower Theatre and even The London Palladium.

Steve Giles was one of it’s core members and now he is launching a Southampton based version of the group called Love Soul Choir (www.lovesoulchoir.com).
