Lizz (Lilli) Warner joined the school as a pupil in 2000 and immediately featured as a lead vocalist in the school’s pop choir, En Masse. Her slightly husky vocal sound gave her voice a unique and instantly identifiable tone, but was at the root of her reasons for seeking vocal tuition. Learning to understand where this sound came from, what benefits and dangers it held for her voice and how to use it safely was a journey that ultimately gave her the kind of fascination with vocal technique that makes an ideal vocal coach.
She began vocal coaching, first by helping with the harmony arrangements at En Masse, then by working as a voice coach at the E Minor Pop Academy for 4 years.
As a singer with two different live vocal acts (Beautiful Contradiction and Ultraviolet) she has had plenty of experience not just with live performance, but with preparing harmony arrangements and song structures. In fact her live vocal abilities won her the opportunity to support top soul singer Lemar at a Southampton gig whilst her aptitude for harmony vocals has made her highly capable studio session vocalist.
She has a passion for songwriting and has written and recorded a number of songs at HL Studios which can be heard on her Myspace page.
In 2006 Lizz took over the Salisbury branch of the school and has been teaching there full time since Robin Gair retired as vocal coach, as well as taking over the running and coaching of En Masse.
